The winter sports season in Germany will open at Söllereck in the Oberstdorf ∙ Kleinwalsertal mountain lift area.
Just 10 days after the last picture-perfect autumn days, ski enthusiasts can kick off the winter season on November 23rd – according to the mountain lift operators' plans.
The weather is giving the Allgäu and Kleinwalsertal regions a dream start to the ski season. Crisp, cold temperatures, sunshine, and further snowfall are forecast for the coming days.
This is reason enough for the Oberstdorf ∙ Kleinwalsertal mountain lifts to start the winter season earlier than ever before.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff, the family-friendly Söllereck mountain is already open for all winter enthusiasts.

The legendary Höllwies lift will reopen on Friday, November 28th.
Höllwies is known for its beautifully undulating slopes and unique views of Oberstdorf and the Allgäu mountains.
Please note: The lift access point has moved uphill – access is only via Söllereck.
For a stroll in the Winter Wonderland, the first winter hiking trails at Söllereck will also be open from November 23rd:
- Circular hiking trail to Freibergsee (Nos. 24, 25, and 26)
- Panoramic trail No. 28 Söllereck to Riezlern in Kleinwalsertal
Free shuttle bus between the Walserschanze parking lot and the Söllereckbahn valley station

Just a few days later, on Friday, November 28, 2025, the legendary Höllwies lift will also return after a five-year hiatus.
Locals and those in the know will remember: Since its opening in the early 1960s, the Höllwies has been synonymous with beautifully undulating slopes and a unique view of Oberstdorf and the Allgäu mountains.
Good to know
- Access to the Höllwies area will now (only) be via the Söllereckbahn lift. The valley station has been moved a few meters uphill.
- The Ziegelbachhütte mountain hut will not be open during the 2025/2026 winter season.
Not only is the season starting earlier than ever before a first for the Oberstdorf ∙ Kleinwalsertal mountain lifts, but in keeping with their own high standards for sustainability and climate protection, the world's first fully electric snow groomers will be deployed in the 2025/2026 ski season.
One of them will be at Söllereck, the others at Nebelhorn and Heuberg.

Thanks to the special microclimate in the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal area, the Söllereck ski resort can regularly open for the ski season early in the year. And the weather was also favorable for skiers during the 2025/2026 ski season.
