Our "Crystal Family" fun parks in the Fellhorn/Kanzelwand area and the mini park at Söllereck will delight freeskiers and snowboarders alike, and are suitable for all abilities and ages.
It is standard practice at the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal mountain lifts that sustainable practices are a top priority in all investment and modernization projects. This commitment to environmentally conscious operations is manifested not only in the MyMountainNature program, but also in a wide range of other measures.
"The focus on an intact natural landscape and sustainable habitat planning is an essential component of our operations," says Johannes Krieg, CEO of the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal mountain lifts. Krieg emphasizes that this is driven not only by ideals but also by sound economic considerations.
One of the main reasons visitors to the mountain lifts are to experience an intact and pristine natural landscape as a counterpoint to urban environments. "We would be undermining our own economic foundation if we didn't make the preservation of the original flora and fauna our guiding principle," says Krieg.
The best examples of the interplay between sustainability and increased efficiency are the currently planned construction projects at the Fellhorn and the Scheidtobel cable car. This is not just about improving the quality of the experience for skiers. The overall project focuses on optimized guest flow, more efficient operation of the lifts, and thus on meeting high standards for environmental sustainability within the sensitive natural environment of the Fellhorn.
The lifts are being modernized along existing routes, and the project development prioritizes operational efficiency improvements. Furthermore, the lifts – and from winter 2025/2026 onwards, the snow groomers as well – will be powered by 100% renewable electricity generated on-site.
The construction of the new Scheidtobel lift will coincide with the dismantling of the Bierenwang lift. This ensures that the overall lift capacity in the ski area remains unchanged and that every guest has ample space on the slopes for a safe and enjoyable skiing experience. The slope improvements integrated into the overall project also represent an ecological benefit, in addition to the improved quality for skiers, as the goal is to implement optimized snow and slope management.

The ski lifts are being modernized along existing routes, and the project development focuses on increasing operational efficiency. Furthermore, the lifts – and from winter 2025/2026 onwards, the snow groomers – will be powered by 100% renewable energy.
The construction of the new Scheidtobel lift will be accompanied by the dismantling of the Bierenwang lift. This means that the overall lift capacity in the ski area will remain unchanged – and will even decrease on the most popular slopes.
The goal is to ensure that every guest has ample space on the slopes for a safe and enjoyable skiing experience.
The slope improvements integrated into the overall project represent not only an increase in quality for skiers but also an ecological benefit. The optimized slope shape will also allow for improved snow and slope management.
Thus, sustainability and increased efficiency go hand in hand.
Just in time for the start of the 2025/2026 winter season, a section of the Fellhorn valley run – a popular family slope – will be redesigned. What initially appears to be a major intervention will, once completed, be only a small but significant improvement to the terrain, as the "during" and "after" photos demonstrate.

The "new" Scheidtobelbahn cable car will unfortunately not be operational in the 2025/2026 winter season, but there are still many good reasons to visit the Fellhorn and the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal mountain railway area:
