A nature-oriented alternative to Trail 1 is the beautiful descent from the Ifenhütte to the valley station of the Ifenbahn cable car. On this hike, you'll enjoy the impressive panorama of the Allgäu Alps: Enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama during the gentle ascent across sunny meadows and well-maintained gravel paths to the lookout point. The Ifenhütte offers the perfect ambiance for a cozy and family-friendly stopover – with home-style cooking on the sun terrace and a fun-filled children's playground for the little ones.
In summer, we pay special attention to the natural environment above the Ifenbahn mid-station. For nature conservation reasons, the Ifenbahn II cable car is only open in winter. The Tafel & Zunder mountain restaurant at the Ifenbahn II mountain station is therefore also closed in summer. The restrooms are still open and can be used by hikers.
Family hikes on the Ifen
Families prefer hiking trails 1 and 2, which start and end at the Ifenhütte. The children's playground right next to the Ifenhütte is a great place to kick off your hike with children or end your family outing in a relaxed manner. Adults can enjoy a well-deserved break with a mountain view on the sun terrace. The Ifen also offers plenty of space and variety for hikers with dogs on its numerous hiking trails.
Long hikes on the Ifen: endurance is required
Hiking on the Ifen also includes challenging alpine trails, for example, across the Gottesacker Plateau or to the Hahnenköpfle. Trail 3 takes approximately 1.5 hours from the Ifen Hut to the 2,000-meter-high Hahnenköpfle and back again, offering beautiful views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Constance. Trail 4 also requires surefootedness and stamina – the moderately difficult Karst Circular Trail takes you up the Gottesacker Plateau with its rugged karst surface and also reaches the summit of the Hahnenköpfle. These Hikes in Kleinwalsertal are unparalleled.
Demanding mountain tours on the Ifen for experienced hikers
Day trips and strenuous summit tours are also among the popular hikes on the Ifen: Those with stamina and experience can experience the bizarre rock formations of the Gottesacker plateau, the Hoher Ifen and the Mahdtal on very special mountain tours.
