Even during the ascent on the Ifenbahn I cable car, the mighty Ifen plateau above the mid-station is impressively impressive. The mid-station is located amidst lush green meadows, framed by a few mountain spruces. It's hard to imagine that hikers ascending to higher elevations from here would soon find only a strange karst landscape dotted with jagged rocks and deep crevices.
Reach your destination without effort
The panoramic trail to the viewpoint below the Bärenköpfle leads southwest from the Ifenbahn mid-station. A well-maintained gravel path leads across sunny meadows with almost no ascent to the nearby destination. Numerous benches along the trail invite you to enjoy the mountain view. Even with a short rest or two, the end of the trail is quickly reached.
View, vision, moment
The viewpoint offers a magnificent mountain panorama. Below lies the Schwarzwassertal, and on the opposite side, the ridge of the Heuberg rises to the Walmendingerhorn. Behind them, the rocky peaks of the Liechelkopf and the Schafalpenköpfe can be seen, towards the Allgäu main ridge. To the north, the view extends through the Kleinwalsertal valley, across the border to neighboring Oberstdorf.
Due to the very easy and short route, this excursion is also ideal for a family vacation. After thoroughly enjoying the Kleinwalsertal mountains, the same route leads back to the Ifenbahn cable car. Here, the Ifenhütte beckons with its home-style cuisine*, a cozy stop. A large sun terrace and a neighboring children's playground ensure an entertaining stay.
