Höfatsweg: Tour description
Let's hike the Höfatsweg together – a great way to prepare for the upcoming tour with the whole family!
As soon as we reach the Höfatsblick mountain station with the Nebelhornbahn cable car, we head towards Zeigersattel. To do this, we walk past the playground at the Höfatsblick station and turn right at the first wooden sculpture. Initially, the path descends slightly on a gravel path towards the valley station of the Koblat chairlift, which operates in winter.
Mountain flowers along the path
From here, the trail becomes flatter and we cross a well-maintained hiking trail towards the viewpoint. Amidst lush green mountain meadows, it's worth taking a closer look at the extraordinary flora. From the Alpine pasqueflower to many species of gentian to the black iris, there are many alpine flowers to discover, some of them rare!
A photo opportunity known far beyond Bavaria's borders
After completing the last few meters of an easy climb, we reach the Zeigersattel. A captivating view of the Allgäu Alps opens up before us. The nearby Höfats on the other side of the Oytal valley, with its steep flanks and narrow ridges, or the rocky main ridge with the Trettachspitze and Mädelegabel a little further to the southwest are just a few of the peaks we can admire from here. Below us stretch the pastures of the Hintere Seealpe, which end further down with their climax – the picturesque Seealpsee. If you look closely, with a little luck, you might even spot marmots or chamois sharing the mountain meadows with the cattle during the alpine summer.
The return to the Höfatsblick station takes the same route. In the cable car area, we have the opportunity to round off our impressive excursion with culinary experiences in a mountain restaurant of the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahnen. This makes hiking on the Nebelhorn fun!
