From the Heuberg cable car's mountain station, a beginner-friendly slope leads all the way down to the valley. Take the Heuberg chairlift up to the summit at over 1,300 meters, enjoy the phenomenal view, and then ski down the Heuberg-Parsenn ski trail to the Gasthof Walserblick inn. In the Ifen ski area (see: /aktiv-sport/skifahren/skigebiete-kleinwalsertal/skigebiet-ifen.html), even beginners can experience the thrill of skiing. The Ifen I and II lifts whisk skiers and newcomers alike up to an altitude of over 2,000 meters. Only advanced skiers should attempt the black Olympic run. Instead, the easy Gottesacker and Küren ski slopes offer a unique beginner's experience, covering a total of 7 kilometers of pistes down to the valley station. There, the marmot mascot "Burmi" and his winter wonderland delight children with simple practice runs and magic carpets. Learning to ski couldn't be easier!

Tips for beginner skiers: Here's how to do it right!

You're standing at the foot of the mountain, the sun glistening on fresh powder snow, and today you're taking your first turns on skis. Sounds exciting? It is! With the right approach, your introduction to skiing will be an unforgettable experience:

  1. Book a ski school: Experienced ski instructors in Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal will playfully teach you the basics. Children learn in Burmi's and Sölli's Winter Worlds with magic carpets and colorful figures on gentle practice slopes.
  1. Rent ski equipment: Ski schools usually also rent out all the necessary equipment. This way, you can first get a feel for skiing and discover which type of equipment suits you before investing in skis, helmet, and other gear.
  1. Your path to your first run: Start on the magic carpet, practice the snowplow on gentle slopes, and then progress to the wide blue runs on the Heuberg or Söllereck.

Save with the beginner ski pass: Get a great start with the beginner's pass for the practice lifts in Kleinwalsertal or with the ski pass for Söllereck only.

Where can beginners ski in Oberstdorf?

Blue ski slopes are suitable for beginners. The Söllereck, Heuberg, and Ifen ski areas in Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal offer particularly numerous opportunities for learning and practicing. Several blue slopes also await novice skiers on the Fellhorn.

Which ski resort is best for beginners?

Söllereck has been awarded 5 out of 5 stars as a top ski resort for beginners. More than half of the slopes are blue beginner runs. The wide, gently sloping pistes offer the perfect conditions for learning to ski step by step. The special beginner area in Sölli's Winter World introduces children to skiing in a playful way with magic carpets and obstacle courses. An affordable ski pass valid only for this area completes the offering for new skiers at Söllereck.

Are there practice slopes for children?

Yes! At the foot of the Söllereck, Sölli's Kinderland awaits little ski beginners with magic carpets and a themed obstacle course. At the Ifen, opposite the valley station, Burmi's Kinderland offers 3000 m² of gentle practice slopes, and the Burmi run on the Heuberg is the first real ski descent for many beginners.

Do I, as a beginner, need a ski pass for the entire area?

For beginners, there are affordable alternatives to the full ski pass:

  • Only at Söllereck is there a discounted day or 3-hour ticket for beginners and those wanting to try it out.
  • In Kleinwalsertal, you can use all the valley lifts with the 1-day practice lift ticket as well as the 2- or 3-hour practice lift ticket. This is where the easy beginner slopes are located.

On-site, you can quickly and easily upgrade to the full ski pass if you want to go higher up sooner.

Are there ski lessons for adults?

Of course! At all valley stations in Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal there are ski schools that also offer group courses and private lessons for adult ski beginners.

Beginners will feel especially at home in our winter wonderland and on our practice lifts. Conveyor belts, drag lifts, and flat practice slopes help with those first steps in the snow.

Ready, set, go! Families love the beautiful Söllereck ski area, known for its child-friendliness.

Our "Crystal Family" fun parks in the Fellhorn/Kanzelwand area and the mini park at Söllereck will delight freeskiers and snowboarders alike, and are suitable for all abilities and ages.
