"Even though we don't know what the 2020/21 World Cup season will look like due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are already pledging our support to Alexander," said Dr. Andreas Gapp, CEO of OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN. Alexander Schmid has now finally moved from being a young talent to being among the podium finishers. The 26-year-old is among the 50 best skiers in the world and has consistently finished in the top 20 in his specialty disciplines, giant slalom and slalom. A particular highlight is his World Cup podium finish in the parallel giant slalom in Chamonix, where he took third place. "We are delighted to see that Alex's hard work is paying off. We are happy to continue supporting his commitment and dedication so that we can accompany him on his further journey in the World Cup circuit," Gapp continues. The athlete himself is especially pleased by this trust: "The fact that the cable cars have been relying on my skills for two years and are now guaranteeing them for another three with their signature spurs me on to deliver the best possible performance." Supporting top athletes, as well as young athletes, is a matter close to the heart of the local cable cars. "Ski racing is particularly important in our region. With the right, high-quality support and relief for families, the foundation for future success is laid," emphasizes Andreas Gapp.
