The best of both worlds with the Kanzelwandbahn
Located between Germany and Austria, the "borderless" cable car offers the best of both worlds – perfect for Hiking in the Allgäu or Winter hiking in the Allgäu. The Kanzelwandbahn is the transporter from the Kleinwalsertal town of Riezlern to a boundless mountain experience. A total of 36 kilometers of slopes await winter sports enthusiasts in the Fellhorn/Kanzelwand ski area. areas-oberstdorf/ski areas-fellhorn-kanzelwand.html Of course, summer sports enthusiasts also get their money's worth when they float uphill on the Kanzelwandbahn and arrive in the family-friendly hiking region.

Kanzelwandbahn: The Austrian side is particularly popular with guests
- The Burmiwasser Adventure Trail is a summer highlight for young mountain hikers. A variety of play stations line the route from the Kanzelwandbahn mountain station to the Riezler Alpsee. The almost magical attraction that water games have for children is probably well known – beaming faces, shining eyes, and the occasional wet socks are simply part of the experience.
- In winter, the CrystalGround at the foot of the Kanzelwandbahn offers pure action for snowboarders and freeskiers. All skill levels can let off steam here day and night. Floodlights make this possible – every Wednesday – and a visit to the snow park a special experience.
- For experienced mountaineers and climbers, the Two-Country Via Ferrata on the Kanzelwand is a paradise without borders.
Stop at the mountain station of the Kanzelwandbahn or at the Adlerhorst
How does a boundless day in the Allgäu mountains go? It starts with the climb, followed by working out or enjoying some outdoor sports.
And then? A well-deserved stop is an integral part of a trip to the two-country region. For example, the Panorama Restaurant or the Hammerspitzbar at the Kanzelwandbahn mountain station are ideal. Sun terrace, regional delicacies, a panoramic view over the Kleinwalsertal... What more could you want? The Adlerhorst below the mountain station is also a suitable alternative. The cozy hut offers all kinds of regional delicacies all year round.
As a special highlight, we offer a 5-course gondola menu at the Kanzelwandbahn! Experience a unique treat in a very special "restaurant".
Would you like a little more history about the Kanzelwandbahn?
If you're still keen to get a taste of history after the sun terrace, we recommend the valley descent to Riezlern via the Zwerenalpe in summer. The trail starts at the mountain station, and from there, a hiking trail leads to a mountain saddle – here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Fellhorn region and thus into neighboring Germany before heading towards the Zwerenalpe. A short distance along the stream, the farmstead becomes visible after a while.
A detour there is like diving into history: The alpine pasture was first mentioned in 1574 in the 16th century. For a long time, farming families inhabited and cultivated the mountain settlement, consisting of five huts and a chapel. Today, it is uninhabited except for a few weekends a year. After this excursion into the Walser past, the trail continues down to Riezlern. This descent takes a total of around two and a half hours through idyllic landscapes with a touch of history, which can also be explored while hiking around Fellhorn and Kanzelwand:/aktiv-sport/wandern/wandern-oberstdorf/wandern-fellhorn-kanzelwand/.
