Fellhornbahn: Winter & Summer Fun for the Whole Family
Always on the Move: Whether with the Kanzelwandbahn across the country's borders, on 36 kilometers of slopes, or action-packed at the Crystal Peak Park - the dynamic Fellhorn and its associated Fellhornbahn offer the perfect experience.
In winter, the Fellhorn and the neighboring Kanzelwand are the largest ski area in the Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal ski area. With two long, snow-sure valley runs and perfectly groomed slopes, the area impresses winter sports enthusiasts across the board. When it comes to culinary delights, every culinary desire is fulfilled in the numerous restaurants.
Tip for Family vacationers in the Allgäu: The family slope runs between the mountain station of the Fellhornbahn II and the Höfle station!
Another highlight is the Bierenwangbahn, which replaced the last drag lift in the ski area and now boasts a comfortable, speedy chairlift with heated seats and a weather-protective hood.
In summer, a unique flower paradise, scenic circular hiking trails, and themed hikes delight visitors.
2,400 passengers per hour on the Fellhornbahn
In summer, the Fellhornbahn I takes you up, and in winter, the Fellhornbahn II operates parallel. During peak times, up to 2,400 passengers per hour are transported to the snowy mountain world with the Fellhornbahn. The Fellhorn Gipfelbahn then takes you almost to the summit itself.
Once you reach the top, unforgettable mountain moments await:
- Below the middle station of the Fellhornbahn, there's an action-packed highlight in the winter months: The Crystal Peak Park delights daredevil snowboarders and skiers. With an easy to medium kicker line and simple obstacles like butter boxes, it's also perfect for beginners. The Fellhorn also offers great winter hiking experiences:/aktiv-sport/winterwandern/fellhorn-winterwandern.html
- In summer, you can comfortably reach impressive hikes on the Fellhorn – and colorful alpine flower meadows. During the alpine rose bloom period at the end of June, the slopes transform into a red sea of flowers and enchant nature lovers with their spectacle.
- Throughout the year, the border between Germany and Austria, Bavaria and Vorarlberg, the Allgäu and Kleinwalsertal valleys, runs along the Fellhorn. We think: Such a cross-border skiing or hiking experience is a highlight in itself.
Take the Fellhornbahn cable car for hiking and skiing
A comfortable and easy way to get back to the valley is available by cable car, offering various options both in summer and winter. The 5.7 km valley run in winter is not just a final highlight of a day of skiing and snowboarding. This slope is especially tempting for extensive skiing fun in the morning.
During the hiking season, for example, the family-friendly descent into the valley via Schlappoldsee and Alpe Schlappold is ideal. It is the highest alpine pasture in Germany, and every year up to eighty local dairy cows spend their summers there. Various types of cheese, butter, and other dairy products are made from the finest alpine milk. A stop is definitely worth it – children, in particular, can discover exciting details about the alpine summer for themselves.
