Thanks to the brief but intense onset of winter, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy boundless skiing fun at Fellhorn and Kanzelwand right from the start of the season. The lift and slope connection between Germany and Austria is open from day one. The popular mountain huts Alpe Bierenwang and Schwendthütte are also accessible at the start of the season.
This coming Friday, December 5, 2025, the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand ski areas of the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN will open simultaneously as scheduled. And they will offer the most comprehensive range of skiing in recent years.
Thanks to the excellent winter weather of the past few weeks, all slopes and lifts at Fellhorn and Kanzelwand can be opened right from the start of the season, establishing the connection in the two-country ski area.
Even the valley run at Kanzelwand will already be open. So you can start your ski day at Fellhorn and end it in Kleinwalsertal – or vice versa.
... The open slopes and lifts also provide access to the mountain restaurants at the gondola lifts, as well as the Alpe Bierenwang and Schwendhütte mountain huts.

Thanks to the excellent winter weather of the past few weeks, all slopes and lifts on the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand will be open right from the start of the season, creating a seamless connection in the two-country ski area.
Even the valley run on the Kanzelwand will be open. This means you can start your ski day on the Fellhorn and finish it in the Kleinwalsertal – or vice versa.
In addition to the mountain restaurants at the gondola lifts, the "Alpe Bierenwang and Schwendhütte" mountain huts will also be accessible via the open slopes and lifts.

The weather is giving the Allgäu and Kleinwalsertal regions a dream start to the ski season – right at the beginning, there's a powder alert with 40-60 cm of fresh snow. Crisp, cold weather, sunshine, and further snowfall are forecast for the next few days.
This is reason enough for the Oberstdorf ∙ Kleinwalsertal mountain lifts to kick off the winter season with a pre-opening at the Fellhorn.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff, the first slopes and lifts at the Fellhorn will open for winter enthusiasts.
