At the same time, they are sending a clear message: "Yes!" to mountain experiences, but only safely, securely, and responsibly. As of May 14, 2020, the first cable cars are expected to be allowed to start operating on May 30, 2020. However, this start date has not yet been confirmed in writing by the authorities in Germany and Austria and is therefore subject to change.
Creating the right framework
Allowing everyone to experience their own piece of freedom in the mountains after this period of restrictions is an important goal for the cable cars in the two-country region and the destinations of Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal in summer 2020. However, to achieve this, forward-looking measures are needed. "We are working closely with the tourism associations and are pulling together. Together, we are prepared to ensure our guests feel safe and secure, and we are creating the necessary conditions for this. Nevertheless, we rely on mutual consideration and careful hygiene practices, because we have a responsibility – to our guests and, above all, to our employees. This is the only way to ensure a successful mountain experience while maintaining social distancing," explains CEO Dr. Andreas Gapp.
A comprehensive hygiene concept is currently being preparatoryly implemented within the mountain railways. The procedure for occupancy of the cabins plays a particularly important role. "At the Fellhornbahn II, for example, we have brought forward the overhaul work so that the 8-seater gondola lift will be available in the summer. This allows families to use a cabin alone," explains CEO Johannes Krieg. The specific details of further implementation also depend on the specifications issued by the Austrian Ministry of Transport and the Bavarian State Ministry of Transport. But one thing is certain: guests can look forward to summer 2020 in the two-country region.
The heart icon "careful, safe, gentle" of the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN and the two tourist associations of Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal stands for quality, service and the demand they place on themselves to provide security for their guests. "It is a joint commitment from us to our guests: We stand together in the crisis and are doing our best to ensure that trips into nature are safe. On the other hand, it should strengthen the sense of security of the guests, because we take care of the framework conditions for a carefree holiday in the mountains," says board member Henrik Volpert with conviction. Soon, guests will once again be able to: breathe in. feel the mountain air. feel free - with the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN they experience the mountains safely, securely and responsibly.
