The time has finally come: Starting Saturday, May 30th, the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand cable cars will once again transport guests to the summit. Allgäu Coaster and the climbing forest at Söllereck will also resume daily summer operations. More cable cars will follow on Monday, June 15th, 2020.
After intensive preparations, the gates to the mountain experience are permitted to reopen. "We are very pleased that things are starting up again and that we can gradually return to our core business of providing guests with impressive moments in nature," says CEO Dr. Andreas Gapp. On the German side, a maximum cabin capacity of 35% is permitted. This means a maximum of 35 guests per cabin for the Fellhornbahn I aerial tramway. "In preparation for the announced capacity restrictions, the extensive overhaul work on the Fellhornbahn II cable car has been brought forward. This means that starting July 1st, we will be switching from the large cabin to the 8-person cabins to avoid long waiting times," explains CEO Johannes Krieg. There are no restrictions on transport capacity on the Austrian side. "But precisely because the attributes of Careful – Safe – Gentle are important to us, we have imposed a voluntary 50% capacity limit on the Austrian cable cars Kanzelwand, Walmendingerhorn, and Ifen to protect our guests and our employees," explains Johannes Krieg. From June 15, the Ifen, Heuberg, Zaferna, and Walmendingerhorn cable cars will bring guests back up the mountain. General hygiene measures apply throughout the two-country region, such as wearing a face mask, maintaining the minimum distance, and regularly washing and disinfecting hands. In addition, special precautionary measures apply in every area of the cable cars.
