After an extensive overhaul with a total investment of 1.1 million euros, the cable car is once again operating daily at an altitude of 1,967 meters.
"The renovation of the cable car was essential to ensure it meets the latest technological standards and thus continues to guarantee the highest level of safety for our guests," explains Johannes Krieg, Managing Director of Fellhornbahn GmbH. The renovation work focused on the control system, braking systems, and drives (main drive and emergency drive). "In the past, four different companies were involved in the technology, two of which no longer exist. This presented us with challenges in terms of support and the availability of spare parts. With Garaventa AG, we now rely on a reliable partner with the highest quality and many years of experience," explains Johannes Krieg, adding: "Together with the cable car control systems from Frey AG Stans, a specialist in this field – which is also part of the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group – we now have a digitally controlled cable car with the latest system and the best technology." This modernization raises reliability, functionality, and operational safety to a new level – with real-time monitoring and visualizations ensuring smooth operation. This guarantees hikers continued scenic views across the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAUNEN two-country region.
