Krieg takes over management of operations and infrastructure. Together, they aim to expand the modern and diverse range of services offered by the mountain railways to further strengthen tourism and the regions.
Tasks clearly assigned
Johannes Krieg studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in product development and lightweight construction. His experience, process-oriented thinking, and problem-solving skills convinced the local mountain railways:
"With his solid technical training, Johannes is the ideal person to manage operations and infrastructure in the future. This includes the optimal operation of our facilities and the management of around 340 employees," says Dr. Andreas
Gapp, who will continue to handle commercial matters.
His love of the mountains is his motivation
"Standing on the summit has fascinated me since I was a child. Therefore, when the job was advertised, my wife and I immediately knew that the new role would more than match my interests. My love of nature is the best prerequisite for my work at the mountain railways," says Johannes Krieg. Being able to bring the beautiful natural experiences closer to other people and make them tangible is his motivation for his new role.
Strengthening the region together
Although neither board member was born in Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal, they consciously chose the region. "We know the needs of the people in the region. This results in close and effective collaboration across national borders. We will make important decisions together and work together on an equal footing with all employees," says Johannes Krieg. "Only if we work together on the future of the two-country region can we make a sustainable contribution to Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal. Therefore, we need cross-border cooperation to ensure positive development," adds Andreas Gapp.
