At the start of our circular hike, we follow the Koblat Circular Trail No. 2 at the cable car top station. After the first few meters of downhill, the trail gradually ascends towards Koblat. Thanks to the well-maintained hiking trail, we quickly gain elevation over several switchbacks. After a good half hour, we reach our first destination – a plateau at approximately 2,000 meters.
Across the Hochvogel to the Zugspitze Massif
The picturesquely situated Koblat plateau is bordered to the north by the mighty rock faces of the Wengenköpfe. High above the ridge runs the well-known Hindelanger Klettersteig. To the east and south, the flower-rich plateau captivates with magnificent views of the Allgäu Alps and their neighbors. To the southeast, the colossal Hochvogel massif is particularly impressive. With very good visibility, even the Zugspitze massif can be seen far away on the southern horizon.
Diverse Alpine Flora
We hike a little further uphill along the edge of the Koblat before imperceptibly turning left into the basin below the Nebelhorn summit. From gentian to alpine roses to various anemones species, there are many rare flowers to discover from the rich alpine flora up here.
The hiking trail gradually leads us back downhill towards the Nebelhornbahn mountain station. Thanks to its good condition, the circular hiking trail is also ideal for a vacation with children. Back at the cable car mountain station, the market restaurant with its sun terrace or the Edmund Probst House, a mountain hut belonging to the German Alpine Association, invite you to take a relaxing break.
