Moderately difficult trail. Walking time: approx. 2 hours.
This well-paved, varied circular trail is particularly suitable for family holidays due to its characteristics. Coming from Kleinwalsertal, we take the Kanzelwandbahn cable car up to its mountain station.
Fun for children!
The hike begins here. If you're on holiday with children, even the first few meters from the mountain station to the Riezler Alpsee are sure to be exciting and take some time. There are many attractive and exciting things to discover along the newly created Burmiwasser Adventure Trail. Further on, the hike leads amidst numerous mountain flowers to the Obere Bierenwangalpe. The trail is a highlight for every flower lover, not only during the blooming alpine roses! From the serviced alpine pasture with its cozy parlor and sunny viewing terrace, it's not far to the Fellhornbahn mid-station at Schlappoldsee.
Views, Cheese & Multimedia
Arriving at the cable car station, the mountain restaurant's large sun terrace offers a first, spectacular view of the Allgäu main ridge. The middle station is also the starting point for numerous other hikes, such as down to Schlappoldsee and from there to the Schlappoldalpe of the same name - the highest alpine pasture in Germany*.
Summit Happiness
After a climb to the summit station, you'll find the Bergschau 2037, a natural history information center. The documentary about the Allgäu mountains in the so-called "summer cinema" is definitely not to be missed! Once you've reached the outdoor area of the summit station, it's not far to the Summit of the Fellhorn, which rewards you with a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kleinwalsertal, the Allgäu, and the Allgäu Alps.
Back at the summit station, the family-friendly "Fellhornweg" nature trail with its 6 information pillars descends back to the Riezler Alpsee. From there, a short climb leads to the Rote Wand viewing platform – with its unique view of the Kleinwalsertal valley – and from there back to the Kanzelwandbahn mountain station.
Of course, the loop can also be started from any other starting point, for example, after ascending on the Fellhornbahn from the Schlappoldsee station.
