Upon reaching the Walmendingerhorn cable car mountain station, you should definitely take some time to ascend to the summit via the educational Alpine Flower Trail. Afterwards, it is recommended to inspect the panoramic elevator and the viewing platform. Impressed by the multitude of extraordinary views, trail no. 2 – towards Obere Lüchlealp – begins below the station. After a wide right-hand bend, the well-maintained alpine path soon leads across the first sunny pastures of the Sennalpe. Past two forks in the path, the signposts continue towards the upper Lüchlealpe.
A hike for the senses
In addition to the colorful floral splendor, you can also smell the lush green alpine meadows and the fresh scent of the alpine farm. The magnificent panorama guides us to the upper Kleinwalsertal, with the large Widderstein at the end of the valley. After a few meters on the well-paved alpine road, we reach the Sennalpe, located at 1,760 meters, high above the Kleinwalsertal.
The upper Lüchlealpe
On the sunny terrace of the unspoiled Walser Alpe, the attractive location offers a particularly beautiful mountain panorama. Culinary delights, with its homemade Walser mountain cheese and many other local products from the farm itself, guarantee an extraordinary experience. The Sennalpe is home to 20 dairy cows and 20 young cattle, who enjoy the alpine summer and the fresh alpine pastures covered with mountain herbs.
Depending on your individual goals and personal fitness, after an enjoyable stop at the upper Lüchlealp, you can return to the cable car station, descend via the Stutzalpe to Mittelberg, or via the Stierhofalpe to Baad.
