Nature Experience on the Blumenberg
Anyone who wants to gain insights into the history of the Earth or expand their knowledge of flora and fauna will find the geological-botanical nature trail on the Fellhorn in the right place. Every Wednesday, plant expert Regine Willinsky accompanies visitors from the valley station of the Fellhornbahn cable car up to the region's Blumenberg mountain. Thanks to many years of experience and a trained eye, she informs them about 160 different plant species along the trail. A geological highlight: the flysch rock, whose composition provides the perfect breeding ground for a diverse flora. The easy two-hour hike takes you over the Fellhorn summit or along the Flower Adventure Trail.
Experience the King of the Skies Up Close
A few mountains further on, guests experience nature from a bird's eye view. Biologist and certified ski mountaineering guide Henning Werth explains the biodiversity of the high mountain regions on the Nebelhorn to enthusiastic bird watchers. In the meadows, in the forests, and in the air, visitors can view native birds in their natural habitat through binoculars and spotting scopes. At different altitudes, hikers learn all about golden eagles, ptarmigan, and other birds. During the hike, the experienced biologist explains the 21 characteristic alpine bird species and their calling patterns. He also explains important rules of conduct in high alpine terrain, where the following always apply: respect quiet zones and stay on the trails. This is the only way to preserve this diverse flora and fauna for future generations.
