During this orientation program, ten young people learned about the catering job opportunities in the Fellhorn ski resort in the two-country region last winter.
"Your Job on the Mountain" is a project by the IFU Institute for Corporate Values GmbH with the goal of providing young people with an attractive orientation internship in the Allgäu region. OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN is a co-founder of this project, along with other partners. For board member Dr. Andreas Gapp, it's a project close to their heart: "Thanks to 'Your Job on the Mountain,' participants often have the opportunity to experience the world of work for the first time after school. The experiences they gain allow participants to make a much more informed decision about whether they actually stay in the catering industry or pursue a different career path. This creates a win-win situation for both sides. The participants can gain career guidance, and the companies have young and motivated employees."
Forward-looking project
Thanks to this initiative, the young adults learned about the benefits of a job in the hospitality industry in the Fellhorn ski resort: "One of the highlights of a job in the ski resort is certainly being the first on the slopes and skiing to work. In addition, our businesses offer fixed working hours – unlike some other representatives in the hospitality industry. Our employees only work during the cable car's operating hours. This way, they finish work at 4:30 p.m.," explains Armin Meitinger, Head of Hospitality in the two-country region.
Best prerequisites for the future
As one of the largest employers in the two-country region, it was particularly important to OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN to be a driving force behind the "Your Job on the Mountain" project. This five-month orientation internship not only provides initial insights into the hospitality industry but also offers participants a special personal development program. In this way, they build a valuable foundation for their future personal and professional lives. Last winter season, a total of twelve people found their way into the mountain hospitality industry thanks to this initiative – ten of them were employed by the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN in the Fellhorn ski area.
