The OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN are making a visible statement for the environment, and not only with the MyMountainNature project. Through their collaborations with the Allgäu CleanUP Days and "Trash-Free Allgäu," the 2-country mountain railways are demonstrating their commitment to clean nature throughout the region.
Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal, July 19, 2022 – A stunning environment is an important prerequisite for unforgettable hiking experiences in the mountains. For this reason, the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN are committed to participating in various cleanup programs in Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal. "Litter collection campaigns can be easily combined with our MyMountainNature program. At the beginning of July, for example, we supported the Allgäu CleanUP Days 2022 with their goal of 'plastic-free peaks,'" explains Andreas Gapp, CEO of OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN. Garbage was collected around the Fellhorn and the Kanzelwand and disposed of properly. Another project supported by the 2-country mountain railway is the "Litter-Free Allgäu" challenge. Participating schools and companies will compete against each other, this year from September 24th to October 9th, to clean up peaks, forests, and meadows of leftover trash. One of the winning teams will have a special experience: "Next year, we will again invite one of the winning teams to the Söllereck climbing forest," says Henrik Volpert, also CEO of the mountain railways.
MyMountainNature
Sustainable development is a priority for the OBERSTDORF · KLEINWALSERTAL BERGBAHNEN. The constantly evolving MyMountainNature program, in particular, showcases the cable car company's projects, in which all areas of sustainability are addressed step by step: "For example, we operate our own hydroelectric power plant on the Nebelhorn, have developed environmentally friendly construction techniques, and rely on regional suppliers," explains Johannes Krieg, Technical Director of the cable car company. Numerous individual projects are currently underway under the MyMountainNature program in the areas of energy, construction, flora & fauna, employees & suppliers.
