The game goes into overtime
Once in possession of the ball, our young and old guests can begin the rolling fun on the Söllereck family mountain in Oberstdorf. The first section is the new "Adler7" section – the first of four. The 33-meter-long track consists of two parallel tracks – ideal for a small family race. Once the wooden balls are in motion, they roll through a telescope on both sides, past cowbells, and through the "Wedding Flight" station. A curved track and the "Mountains" and "Eagle" stations continue the exciting race. At the end of the first track, the first ball to land in the final tub wins the section.
Exciting, new fun
After a short hike along the Schönblickweg trail, the second section of Sölli's ball race follows on the Söllereck family mountain in Oberstdorf: the Waldbahn section. Across the 50 meters, young and old players can enjoy a course consisting of a funnel, spirals, a wave track, and a column labyrinth. The special highlight of the track is the ball slalom at the end. This is followed by Section 3, the second new element of Sölli's ball race: the wave track. The ten-meter-long course leads through a slalom, through a wave section, and ends with a catchment area for the ball. The final 57-meter finish track is the crowning glory at the end of the trail.
Hiking enjoyment on the Schönblickweg
The course of the ball race track also serves as the hiking trail down into the valley—making the hike child's play for young and old. The approximately 2.2-kilometer-long Schönblickweg leads from the mountain station down to the intermediate station of the Söllereckbahn. Also new in summer 2021: The legendary woodpecker seesaw, another play surprise for children, is located along the trail.
Quality Initiative at the Söllereck Family Mountain
"Sölli's Ball Race" is now part of the quality initiative at Oberstdorf's family mountain. The newly opened and now fully accessible Söllereckbahn cable car has been delighting visitors since the end of May. In addition to the new cable cars, the Allgäu-Coaster year-round toboggan run, and the climbing forest, the popular wooden ball race now also has a new look.
The wooden balls for Sölli's Ball Race are available at the valley station or next to the top station of the Söllereckbahn cable car for €3 and can be taken home as a souvenir after playing.
