Despite all efforts, the planned start of this year's ski season on December 7th in the Fellhorn and Kanzelwand ski areas is not possible. "Quality and safety come first," explains Dr. Andreas Gapp, CEO of Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG and Managing Director of Fellhornbahn GmbH. Due to the lack of snowfall, the thin layer of snow does not yet guarantee skiing, despite snowmaking. "In order for the slope quality to meet our standards and at the same time ensure safe skiing, the snow cover still needs to be a bit thicker. Thanks to the weather forecasts, however, we will be able to achieve this with our snowmaking systems," says Dipl.-Ing. Johannes Krieg, Managing Director of Fellhornbahn GmbH and CEO of Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG, optimistically.
For these reasons, the planned start on the Nebelhorn must also be postponed by a week. However, the Nebelhornbahn will be open for daily winter operation for pedestrians as planned from December 8th.
Skiing on Fellhorn, Kanzelwand, and Ifen is scheduled to begin on December 14th. One day later, on December 15th, the Nebelhorn will open; the Walmendingerhorn and Heuberg ski areas will follow on December 21st. Just in time for Christmas, the Söllereck will begin daily ski operations on December 22nd.
