A weekend of music and traditions awaits visitors in the mountains of Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal on June 24th and 26th. The festival kicks off on Saturday evening with the Midsummer Festival on the Nebelhorn. The Flying Fox, the 300-meter-long cable car slide, will be in operation from 5 p.m., and a band and alphorn players will entertain visitors. A mountain church service with musical accompaniment begins at 6:30 p.m. The cable car takes you back down to the valley until 10 p.m. with atmospheric night rides. From 4 p.m., discounted ascent and descent tickets are available: adults €21, youth €14, and children €12. The cable car inclusive ticket and the Citizens' Card are valid on this evening.
The festival begins at 6 p.m. on the Walmendingerhon in Kleinwalsertal with a mountain church service. The catering team will be offering culinary delights until the evening hours. At dusk, a large mountain bonfire is lit for St. John's Day. After the bonfire is lit at dusk, there will be musical entertainment and delicious grilled food. Discounted ascent and descent tickets start at 4 p.m. (adults €19, ascent only €15, descent only €11.50, children and teenagers up to 17 years old are free.)
The last ascent starts at 5:30 p.m. At 10 p.m., the return journey takes place by cable car or as part of a romantic torchlit hike with experienced staff from the Kleinwalsertal Mountain School.
Soft tones are the order of the day on Monday, June 26th, at 7 p.m. for the evening music at sunset on the Walmendingerhorn. As the sun sinks behind the peaks, the gentle sounds of the harp by Martina Noichl will resound. Texts and short stories will inspire reflection. The ascent by cable car runs until 6:30 p.m. The cable car inclusive ticket and the Citizen Card are valid this evening. The event will only take place in good weather.
