From the Söllereckbahn mountain station, the trail initially takes a short, relatively flat climb (10-15 minutes) to Alpe Schrattenwang. Here, you can either take a break and enjoy the wonderful view or continue directly towards Riezlern. After a short, flat stretch of forest, passed on a wide gravel path, you reach the border crossing into Austria and from here follow the path, which continues gently downhill through lush meadows, enjoying wonderful views towards Kleinwalsertal. Cows can also be seen grazing peacefully here in summer.

After following the wide path for about an hour at roughly the same altitude, it begins to wind steeper and narrower down the valley. The trail then continues through forested areas, past Mittel-Alpe and Bergstüble, which invite you to stop for another break, all the way down to Riezlern.

``` From here you can take the Walserbus, which runs every 10 or 20 minutes, back towards Oberstdorf and get off directly at the Söllereck.
