The start has been moved 200 meters higher
Especially for families with children, but also for all other hikers who want to ascend to the summit of the Walmendingerhorn and save themselves the initial climb, the chairlifts on the Heuberg offer a comfortable ascent and the ideal starting point. From the Heuberg mountain station, the upper high trail takes you on a varied and effortless route to the Bühlalpe. At a medium elevation, you'll enjoy the first impressive views of the Kanzelwand and the Wildental and Gemstltal valleys.
Close to nature through the mountain forest
The summit climb initially leads along a wooded forest path to the picturesque Stutzalpe. From here, the panoramic view extends from the Schüsser, over the Elfer and Zwölfer, to the Güntlespitz, at the end of the Kleinwalsertal valley. The ascent then winds its way up to the Walmendingerhorn on a natural, yet spacious and well-groomed mountain path. On hot days, there are always shady sections where you can take a break from the sun. Flower and mountain lovers are guaranteed to be thrilled!
It can get hot on sunny days.
The final section leads through the alpine pastures of the upper Lüchelalpe. Shade-providing trees are rare, so it's advisable to bring along a supply of drinks. Flower lovers will be rewarded with the rich flora that thrives on the sunny southern slopes of the horn. Among other plants, you'll find the orchid along the path, a species of orchid that is recognizable by its striped leaves. The final climb to the summit is sunny and once again strenuous! However, a magnificent mountain panorama opens up over large parts of the Kleinwasertal Mountains, over the Widderstein to the Lechtal source mountains. After crossing the summit slope, it is not far to the summit and the mountain station of the Walmendingerhorn cable car.
